Hope Children's Home: helping kids in crisis become kids with HOPE!

When children are taken into protective custody, they are typically taken to a police station or case worker's office where they will sit and wait while arrangements are made for their care. This can take hours, and can be traumatic in the midst of a crisis.

We offer HOPE... A Children's Home. We are a transitional home where children can be brought when they are taken into protective custody. The children receive nurturing care, a meal, clothing, a warm bed and a full medical, dental and psychological screening while arrangements for an appropriate foster home can be made.

Hope Children's Home is a non-profit children’s home that provides emergency shelter for our foster children in the Cape Girardeau and surrounding counties. Although we are working alongside and have the support of the State of Missouri Children’s Division, we are operating independently of this state entity.

Hope Children's Home, generously purchased by Caruso Properties, LLC, will allow large families to remain together and give the Children’s Division the necessary time to find a relative for placement or find the most appropriate foster home.

By working with local physicians and counseling services, we will provide all children who come into the home with a medical, dental, and psychological screening.
In addition, we are partnering with local churches to provide for the needs of the children coming into the home.

We can all help foster kids...
We may not be called to adopt or foster a child. But there is something we all CAN do for the least of these:

  • Some have room in their home and in their hearts for fostering or adopting a child.
  • Others are gifted financially to help families who foster or adopt.
  • You can read a child a book, tutor, fix a meal, provide clothing or other needed items.
  • Perhaps you can use your skills to help with maintenance or fundraising efforts.

From the Southeast Missourian, 30 January 2012:

"For years people went to the large, two-story brick house at 709 East Main in Jackson for help -- but not the same kind that can be found there now.

The house dates back to the 1890s. Since the 1960s, it was used as law offices.

Last February the rooms of the house began to take on a new look. Cribs and toys replaced empty spaces where cabinets and desks once stood. Hope Children's Home, an emergency foster home, now provides help there for children who are removed from their own homes and need immediate care." Read more...

Hope Children's Home always appreciates our supporters for making our home a better place for children. Thank you:

In a world where the words, "happily ever after," are reserved for fairy tales, we are so grateful that there is a place called Hope Children's Home where children are cared for, and most importantly…loved.  We never resemble Christ more than when we place our arms around a child, protect them, care for them, and tell them that they are precious, beautiful, and special.  We applaud everyone at Hope Children's Home who works so diligently to ensure every child knows that they are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). It is our honor to be a supporter of your life-changing work.
